In May 2012, one of CFAB's supporters, Mona Khashoggi hosted a stunning Venetian themed birthday celebration for friends and family at the fabulous Sarastro in Covent Garden.  This birthday was a birthday with a twist! Instead of guests bringing birthday gifts, Mona asked everyone to donate to CFAB, and the generosity of everyone has raised over £9,000 for the charity with donations still coming in.

This money will go directly towards our work in Libya and other Islamic countries and families, a cause that is close to Mona’s heart. 

The evening was huge fun and attended by over 150 guests! Entertainment included traditional belly dancing, opera singers, Quartet players, live venetian statues and jogglers, plus fabulous Turkish food and flowing pink champagne through out the evening.  Mona’s daughter, Tamara Abukhadra whose birthday was the day before(!) also wowed the audience with a beautiful song dedicated to her mother and sung by her best friend, and Mona’s friends and family also presented a ‘this is your life’ to the birthday girl, full of wonderful memories!

CFAB is enormously grateful to Mona for this fundraising initiative and choosing CFAB as her beneficiary charity.  We cannot thank her guests enough either for their exceptional generosity and kindness.
