Carolyn was previously CEO of Heart of the City, the UK’s largest responsible small business network, and has worked for Amnesty International, the International Centre for Migration Policy Development and the Washington Office on Latin America as well as for the UK and American governments. She holds a BSc in International Law, Organisations and Ethics (Georgetown University), an MSc in International Relations (London School of Economics) and an MBA (Cass Business School).

Nathalie was previously Director of Fundraising for the charity Founders4Schools. She has over 12 years of experience of raising funds for charities including the NSPCC, St Christopher's Fellowship and the Liberal Democrats. She has a BA (Hons) in History and an MA in International Studies from the University of Durham.

Liz joined as Finance Manager from another International Development Charity and is responsible for the Financial Management of CFAB. She is a qualified Chartered Accountant and is also a fellow member of the AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) and has significant experience working in both the private and public sectors.

Daniella Dolcey
Executive Assistant
Prior to joining CFAB (in August 2019), Daniella worked as an Executive Assistant to the Director of Children’s Services within Local Government. She has a BA in Criminology and Sociology, and an MA in Criminology (both from the University of Kent, Canterbury). Daniella also volunteers as an Appropriate Adult, and has volunteered internationally, working in Primary schools in Mandeville, Jamaica.

Karen joined CFAB in 2018. She has extensive experience of the charity sector and has been a fundraiser for over 20 years, specialising in Trusts and Foundations. With a PGCE from the Institute of Education and an MA in Participatory Arts from Goldsmiths much of her work has involved supporting children and young people, particularly through art and literacy projects.

Policy and Public Affairs Manager
Maria joined CFAB in April 2023, with 16 years experience working in the public sector, charity, non-profit and voluntary sector. She is a passionate advocate for equality and protecting peoples rights to a safe and thriving community. She has studied and practiced as a psychotherapist and continued her postgraduate studies in Global Diplomacy and international contexts of social care. She has worked across borders within a safeguarding and advisory context working, whilst strategically following the contemporary climate of social care and immigration policies and the impact it has in the context of the services we operate in.

Angela joined CFAB in April 2023 as our Local Authority Engagement Manager. She has over 20 years of experience in both the public and private sectors, working most recently in training delivery within local authorities and previously in retail sales management. She is excited to be working with CFAB and her move to the charity sector.

Maria Wright
Senior Legal Advisor
Maria is a solicitor with a particular expertise in children’s law with an international element. She is also a doctoral researcher, currently completing a PhD into care proceedings with an international element. Maria worked as a solicitor in private practice for 7 years representing clients in a wide range of matters encompassing international child abduction, jurisdictional disputes concerning children, wardship, committal, forced marriage, and public and private law proceedings.

Evie joined CFAB in April 2023 as an Inter-country caseworker and will mainly be operating CFAB's advice line. She has extensive experience working in the education sector within the safeguarding team. She has a BSc degree in Psychology from Arden University and is a qualified Mental Health and Wellbeing Champion.

Ben joined CFAB in 2023 after graduating with a Law degree from Durham University. Previously, Ben worked as a Marketing Coordinator at Avie Records and founded his own non-profit. Whilst working as the Digital Communications Officer at CFAB, he studies MA Cultural and Creative Industries at King's College London.

Sorcha has 24 years in the social work arena, predominantly Child protection. She has worked for Local Authorities and more recently, 19 years with Cafcass, 10 years in management and the latter six years as a Head of Practice for a large geographical region. She holds a Degree in Social Science, Diploma in Social Work and a certificate in Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

Fiona Robinson
Service Manager
Fiona is a Social Work England registered Social Worker, graduating with a MA in Social Work from Middlesex University, London and a MA in International and Community Development from Deakin University, Australia. She has worked in the human rights sector with statutory agencies and charities in the UK, Australia and the Asia region for over 20 years. She is the Senior Social Worker at CFAB with responsibility for training and developing the capacity of CFAB’s Independent Social Workers overseas, managing complex cases and delivering training to UK Local Authorities. She has specialist knowledge of international law as well as practises and procedures relating to social work cases that cross international borders.

Nadine Wesslowski
Inter-Country Social Worker
Nadine provides expert advice on CFAB’s inter-country social work cases. She originally qualified as a social worker in Germany and is a registered social worker in the UK. Nadine has worked for a number of London local authorities helping unaccompanied children seeking asylum. She also managed the London Children’s Project, raising awareness of the international elements facing local children’s services. Nadine joined CFAB in 2004.

Michael is responsible for Membership and Training at CFAB. He obtained a Diploma in Law from the University of Jos, Nigeria in 2005 and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Social Administration from the same University in 2012. Michael has a Master’s Degree in Public Health from the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Nigeria. He practised as a licensed social worker in Nigeria where he worked on inter-country child protection cases, which included completing assessments for CFAB on behalf of UK local authorities and UK courts from 2015 - 2019. He subsequently moved to the UK and joined CFAB in September 2019.

Arif joined CFAB in January 2023 as part of the Rank Foundation’s “Time to Shine” leadership placement programme. He assists with CFAB's clerical duties and to the general operation of the office.
Arif graduated with a BSc in International Politics and holds an interest in a broad range of topics including international relations, foreign affairs and the civic sector at wide.

She previously specialies in cross border children law disputes in public law and private law proceedings including international parental child abduction. She left practice in 2015 to pursue her training in psychotherapy which she is currently completing alongside her role on the CFAB advice line.

Inter-country social worker
Jill is a qualified and experienced Social Worker registered with Social Work England. After completing her MA in Social Work, Jill has worked in various statutory settings and charities. She has worked in Looked After Children, Child Protection, Adoption and Care Leavers. She has also specialised in addressing harmful practices. Jill has a particular interest working with refugees and asylum seekers having previously volunteered in relevant, various roles in England, France and Greece. Jill is currently an assessing Social Worker for CFAB’s Family Unification Project.

Daniella joined CFAB in 2023. She obtained a Master’s social work in 2020 from the University of Middlesex and has experience of working and advocating for children and care leavers in the local authority. Daniella is also an active member of the Ghanaian Social Workers Union based in England.

Ruth obtained her MA in Social Work in 2000, and worked as a Local Authority Social Worker and Social Work Manager for 10 years working with Children who are Looked After, Supported Lodgings and Young People leaving Local Authority Care. Ruth has also spent over 10 years living in the Middle East working with refugees and displaced people. She is a fluent Levantine Arabic Speaker. In addition she also has experience working in the areas of women at risk of exploitation, homelessness and fostering.

Chairman
Michael Phair joined CFAB as a Trustee in Oct 2018 and became Chairman in January 2019. Michael has held executive board level positions since 1988 with a number of City merchant and investment banking houses, starting with N M Rothschild for over 8 years and most recently with Bear Stearns International until 2003. Prior to that, Michael lived and worked in a number of countries in North and South America as a commercial and development banker, including a three-year appointment at the International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group) in Washington. He has been the founding shareholder of a number of successful private equity investments in the UK and overseas. A British citizen, Michael is currently the Founder and CEO of REG (UK) Ltd., the leading online counter-party risk management platform in the UK Insurance Market.

Anita was previously Head of Human Resources for the Continental Tyre Group, as well as Appointments Manager and Management/Executive Development Manager at British Telecom. She holds an MBA in Business and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Marketing. Anita’s passion for social work and child protection came from time spent travelling in South East Asia, China, Mongolia and Russia. Anita chairs the Finance & HR Committee and was Acting CEO from July 2016 - January 2017.

Hirsch Sharma

Hirsch joins CFAB with 32-years of experience in a variety of roles including Accountant, CFO, Finance Director and Auditor, having worked in both the public and private sector, covering Fortune 500, charities and schools. Hirsch is currently the chief executive of two companies and has an active role in various charities - including CFAB where he services on our Finance & HR Committee. These charities are mostly involved in child protection and development discourses which are areas he is passionate about.
Hirsch has a plethora of qualifications including: Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA): Institute of Chartered Accountants (London). Post Graduate Diploma in Organisation Management with a specialty in Human Resources (Anglian Regional Management Center) Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Psychology, and English (Punjab University).

President
Douglas Lewis CBE is President of CFAB and services on our Marketing Committee. He was the Chair of CFAB between 2004 and 2014. From 2010 to 2014 he was also Chair of the Governing Board of the International Social Service Network (ISS). Between 2014 and 2018 he was the International President of the International Social Service Network (ISS), of which CFAB is the UK branch. He is the first UK citizen to hold this position since Sir Clive Bossom between 1984 and 1989.

Dr David N. Jones
David is a qualified social worker with local, national and international senior management and service inspection experience in social services. He was Deputy Director (Children) at Ofsted, leaving in 2010. He was Chair of Leicester LSCB (2010-16) and Chair of the Association of LSCB Chairs (2014-16). He has substantial experience working with Parliament, Ministers, government officials and NGOs. David is a former Honorary President of the International Federation of Social Workers (2006-2010) and was a member of the Board of the British Association of Social Workers (2017-2021). He is a Board Member of the Commonwealth Organisation for Social Work and a Governor of Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation Trust. David now services on our Policy & Practice Committee.

Mark has been a CFAB Trustee since 2013 and he services on our Fundraising Committee. He runs his own FCA-registered consulting business, Tate Consultancy Limited, having spent a 34-year career in financial services. He has previously worked for credit asset management business ECM, as Managing Director for Debt Markets for Mitsubishi Bank in London, and as London Managing Director and Head of Debt Markets distribution for Nomura.

Christopher Hames KC
Christopher is a barrister and King’s counsel in 4pb chambers. He has practiced in family law for over 30 years, developing a practice in cases which cover the whole spectrum of modern international children and their families, including cross-border child abduction, overseas adoptions, placement of children abroad, FGM, child trafficking and disputes between parents living in different countries. He is also a Recorder of the Family Court, an approved arbitrator in children's cases and authorised to sit as Deputy High Court Judge. He is a past Chair of the Child Abduction Lawyers Association and is a case reviewer for Advocate. He joined the Board of Trustees of CFAB in January 2018 and sits on our Policy & Practice Committee.

Angie has a lengthy experience in Fundraising and Development and thus, services on our Fundraising Committee. She is currently Managing Director at the Al Madad Foundation and was previously Director of Development at the Westminster School and Campaign Director at the American Cancer Society. She is passionate about creating change, building capacity and sharing knowledge. She has an MA in Cultural Heritage from UCL.

Most recently, she chaired our 65thAnniversary Event Committee and organised our prestigious dinner at Windsor Castle. Victoria Mellor services on our Marketing Committee and is currently the Chief Marketing Officer of NEX, a CME Group company. Victoria has 20 years’ experience working for both large and small companies across finance and technology. Victoria specialises in developing and delivering fully integrated strategic marketing and communications plans to drive business success. Victoria also has significant experience working as a volunteer with various charities such as ChildLine and Terrence Higgins Trust providing counselling and mental health support.

Currently, as the Head of Global Public Relations for Aman, Anna, who is well-networked, directs all brand communications, public relations initiatives, reputation management, and partnerships and events for the company.

Richard Morris MBE
Richard Morris MBE services on our Policy & Practice Committee. He is currently an Assistant Director with Cafcass with responsibility for the Southeast Region and the National Associate Population. He has over 20 years’ experience as a qualified and registered Social Worker holding a number of Senior Management positions inside and outside of his Social Work profession. Previously Richard has travelled extensively and worked alongside organisations such as UNHCR, Princes Trust Volunteers and International Red Cross.

Cornelia is currently the Director of Social Care in Northamptonshire Children’s Trust, after previously being the Assistant Director for Children’s Safeguarding and Early Help in Northamptonshire County Council and the Improvement Director for Lincolnshire County Council and the East Midlands Regional Improvement and Innovation Alliance. Prior to this, Cornelia was Head of Service in Lincolnshire, where she ran integrated social care, early help and public health services and had the strategic lead for Early Help, Lincolnshire Children's Centres offer, and the integration of Public Health into the Local Authority.
Cornelia is both a registered nurse and a qualified social worker. Having extensive leadership experience in public services, she started her social work career in Romania where she also taught Theory and Method in Social Work. Cornelia now sits on our Policy & Practice Committee.

Hilka Hollmann is an experienced children lawyer and partner at Dawson Cornwell. She specialises in care proceedings often involving the most serious of allegations of non-accidental injury, sexual abuse, factitious illness and radicalisation, and cases involving the international movement of children, international adoptions and international surrogacy. Hilka services on our Policy & Practice Committee.

James Cox is an independent social worker, registered in Scotland , who has worked in social care and social work in voluntary and statutory sectors since 1984. He has worked in a range of context in Scotland, England and Lithuania. Until 2021 he was the social work professional adviser to the Scottish Government on child protection and Children and Families Lead for Social Work Scotland. Special interests include kinship and foster care; family group decision making; support for young carers and for disabled children and their families; and social work education.

HRH Princess Alexandra has been CFAB’s Royal Patron since 2000. She was preceded by her sister-in-law HRH The Duchess of Kent, who was CFAB’s Royal Patron from 1968-2000, and her mother HRH Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent; CFAB’s first Royal Patron from 1963-1968. We are immensely grateful for her long-standing support.

Mrs Dalal Al-Duwaisan has been a Patron of CFAB since 2009. Mrs Al-Duwaisan is the wife of Khaled Al-Duwaisan GCVO; the Kuwaiti Ambassador to London and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps. She has been key to engaging CFAB’s Diplomatic supporters and is an active fundraiser for CFAB’s events.

Sarah is active building CFAB’s network of supporters, including work on the organisation’s fundraising events. Her personal involvement with CFAB (then ‘ISS UK’) began in 1992 when the International Social Service (ISS) Hong Kong branch assisted with the adoption of her two children from Romania. Sarah was previously a valued trustee with CFAB and became a Patron of the charity in Oct 2017

Sir Harvey McGrath has served as both a trustee and President of CFAB. He has had a long and distinguished career in the international financial services industry, including chairing both Prudential plc and Man Group plc. He is currently Chair of Governors of Birkbeck College, Chair of Trustees for Heart of the City, icould, and Funding London. He is a Trustee of the Mayor’s Fund for London and Member of the Advisory Board for Sutton Trust. He has specific involvement with social investment through his roles as Founding Trustee of New Philanthropy Capital, as a member of the Advisory Board of Bridges Fund Management and as a social investor.
