What do our Caseworkers do?

Q&A with Anna, our newest Caseworker

3 minute read

Since working at CFAB, what have you learnt that other people might not know?

The work is very broad and there are so many different types of enquiries. CFAB has a lot of knowledge and resources about different countries and their contexts.

So far, I have learnt lots about the different applications of the Hague Convention which is central to our work. CFAB has such specialist knowledge that can’t be found anywhere else — that’s why it’s so important to call our Advice Line, so we can share the knowledge around!

What does your day-to-day look like?

I answer enquiries on the phone and by email. It can take time to advise and signpost enquirers to the right place as every enquiry is very specific. I also work on the cases that are allocated each week. We have team meetings to discuss our case progress and any potential issues, ask questions to other members of the team and discuss updates from the international partners we work with. Our team works on cases around the world every week, so it’s very normal to hear that your colleague has been speaking to authorities in Hong Kong and Germany and South Africa — we really do work far and wide.

How can people get in touch with a Caseworker?

Contacting our team is super easy. We answer calls on our national Advice Line Monday – Friday from 10:00 – 15:30 at 020 7735 8941. You can also email us anytime, at info@cfab.org.uk
