CFAB has developed an International Social Work Certificate which will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to handle casework which involves another country. It contains modules on:
  • International Kinship Care
  • Forced Marriages & Harmful Practices
  • International Surrogacy
  • Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) & Gender-Based Violence
  • Parental Child Abduction
  • International Child Adoption
This self-paced online course contains lectures on each topic with an accompanying knowledge quiz and approximately 15 hours of CPD learning. The course uses a variety of real-life case studies, written text, self-reflection and interactive activities to help you understand your responsibilities.

Who should attend this course?
This course will be relevant to anyone with an interest in protecting children who move between countries.  It is specifically designed for social service professionals and students but is applicable to legal and judicial sectors as well.

Course structure
This course consists of six topics, which can be completed in full or in two three-module packages.

Each topic includes approximately one to two hours’ lecture, some divided into sections. You will then be sent a knowledge quiz to complete at the end of each training video to test your knowledge, as well as ensure you know how to get further information where required.

By the end, you should be able to demonstrate awareness of diverse aspects of people's lives and good knowledge of current issues in society impacting on social work practice.
