Partner Spotlight: Congratulations to Mr Stephen Yau, Chief Executive of ISS Hong Kong

July 2021

We are delighted to share that on the 1st July 2021, Mr Stephen Yau, Chief Executive of International Social Services (ISS) Hong Kong, was awarded the high honour of a Gold Bauhinia Star for his acclaimed word in public and community services in Hong Kong. The Gold Bauhinia Star is one of the highest ranks in the Hong Kong honours system created in 1997 and is a symbolic flower that appears on Hong Kong’s coat of arms, its flag and its coins.

Mr Yau’s illustrious career led him to be the recipient of the Medal of Honour as well as both the Bronze and Silver Bauhinia Star prior to this most recent award. Having led the International Services Hong Kong branch for the past 35 years, Mr Yau has had an impressive impact on social welfare activities, town planning and sports development.

As Chief Executive of ISS-HK, he has expertly exemplified how to make change on a large scale and uphold the health, safety and general welfare of the public.

“I am truly humbled, and especially honoured to be the first ever Head of a non-governmental organisation (NGO) in the welfare sector to receive the Award. I am particularly glad that the Hong Kong Government fully recognises our work at ISS-HK as the only cross-boundary and inter-country social services NGO here in Hong Kong.  My achievement today is a result of concerted effort made by our supporting partners, donors and my colleagues at ISS-HK. I am devoted to work yet harder to contribute to the society of Hong Kong, and to continue to cross boundaries in service and support of children and families in need. Thank you!”

The CFAB team send their congratulations to Mr Yau and his team.
